Daniel Webster was one of the most prominent and influential members of the Whig Party. He held several important offices during his life, being a Senator from Massachusetts one point and Secretary of State under three different presidents. Webster tried to become the Whig Party nominee in 1852, but he completely failed, embarrassing him. He didn't last much longer.
